King Sujemandu has a great name, and I heard their mapo tofu is the real deal, so I went to check it out.
The place
The inside is tidier than it looks from outside.
Menu
Mandu is the focus, and there are rice dishes too.
Inside
Quite popular.
The table setting
Mapo tofu rice bowl
It is hot enough to scald the roof of your mouth. The one slightly disappointing part is the tofu, but apart from that it is almost the same as the mapo tofu I used to eat in Japan. Which is to say, it is good.
Mandu
The wrapper is nice and thick, and it was delicious. If anything, the mandu felt more like the main dish than the mapo tofu.
A mandu turned over
Thin-wrapper mandu you can find plenty of even in the freezer aisle, but a thick wrapper like this seems like something you have to eat at a specialist shop to taste properly.
