I heard there was a rumour that a rather good bakery had opened in Apgujeong. It seems a foreign chef is baking the bread, and maybe that is why the breads look so beautiful.
Breads like these
Focaccia too..
Viennoiserie
Among Korean bakeries this is close to top of the pile..
The doggy character
Honestly, seeing the place fitted out this well right from the start, I assumed they must have taken investment from somewhere, but apparently it is run by Samwon Garden. The location is near Samwon Garden too.
The pick of the day
I enjoyed it. Having tried it, the flavour is good, but perhaps because they want the shape to hold, it does feel a little firm. Then again, that works better for Instagram.
The space to eat in
It is not takeaway only; there are a few seats round the back.
Ciabatta packed with Comté cheese and jambon-beurre
Eating this one, I thought it was really delicious, but with jambon-beurre and Comté cheese in it, how could it not taste good? And if it comes out fresh and still warm, that is as good as it gets. The idea struck me as impressive and genuinely original.
The breads
Pain suisse
A pain suisse with maraschino cherry and pistachio, and here too the ingredients are basically a cheat code. Plenty of places in Korea put out a pain suisse, but I doubt anywhere else is trying a combination this fresh and this tasty.
Focaccia
Bread
Bread
Multigrain loaf
They were all tasty breads, comfortably above the baseline. I liked this place a lot, but the location is not an easy one for me to get to. If I had lived in that neighbourhood I think I would have gone rather more often.
