Mihashi is that anmitsu specialist in Ueno where you have to queue up, and it turns out they’ve opened a branch inside Tokyo Station.
Anmitsu
The kanten, the sweet bean paste, the gyuhi and everything else in it aren’t all that sweet — the sweetness comes across as natural, and there’s a good chew to it. Red-bean shaved ice is probably the better bet in summer, but with a dessert in this style, I feel like you could happily eat it in any season.
Matcha shaved ice
They also sell shaved ice in a seriously vivid colour. Sounds like it tastes pretty good too.
Since Tokyo Station is such a transport hub, this strikes me as a decent cafe to rest up in for a bit while you’re going back and forth.
