Oukichubo, a Chinese restaurant at AEON Shitoro in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka

AEON really is the center of local life here. Whenever I go shopping I end up stopping by. Oukichubo — the name means “Wang’s kitchen” — is a Chinese restaurant in the mall’s food court.

Black vinegar hot and sour noodle set

Oukichubo

Order it as a set and it comes with karaage, gyoza and rice. Quite a volume, and heavy on the carbs.

Oukichubo

The ingredients are fresh and it is cooked well. If you can just do something about the carbs, it is a solid meal.

Veggie-loaded tanmen

Oukichubo

It said it was loaded with vegetables so I gave it a try, but this one comes with a double portion of noodles too. The fresh ingredients are nice, though.

Chinjao rosu

The portion of rice is big on this one as well, but the chinjao rosu itself is tasty. I feel like ordering mostly a la carte dishes would be the way to go, but the menu is built around set meals so I am not sure what the right way to order is. I am sure I will figure it out after a few more visits.
