O to U, a bakery in Motomachi, Yokohama

I went to Yokohama for the first time in a while, and someone recommended a good bakery to me.

The place

Otou

O to U means, well, O and U, but I never looked up why they chose that name.. I got lucky and walked in when nobody was there.. in reality it’s a place with a huge queue, and since I went a bit late there wasn’t much bread left..

The atmosphere

Otou

The interior is lovely and everything’s great.. but I went a few hours after opening and there wasn’t much bread left..

Sansho bread

Otou

This style reminded me of 365 Nichi (365日) in Tokyo. They sell small breads made with interesting ingredients at reasonable prices. And the taste is a sure thing, of course. The sansho bread had a lovely amount of sansho pepper in it too.

Egg tart

Otou

It had been sitting a while so it doesn’t look its best, but the taste is superb.

Anpan

Otou

A cute little size and it tastes good.. but I ended up with mostly sweet breads.. there were only a few loaves left, so I didn’t have much choice..

Chestnut and lemon

Otou

Nut bread

Otou

Croissant

Otou

Cream bread

Otou

Just like 365 Nichi, the overall level is high. No wonder it’s popular. I’d like to go back next time..
