EPEE, a Bakery in Kichijoji

After a great kakigori at Kooriya Peace, I was wandering around the neighborhood when I stumbled on a bakery, with zero prior knowledge of it.

Strictly speaking, it’s a bakery and restaurant in one.

Breads

Epee

I’ve been to countless bakeries in my life, but this is the first time I’ve seen bread this close to perfectly shaped. It’s as if it were born for Instagram.

Bread that looks good tastes good too.

There was something like a powerful aura coming off the bread here.

Salted butter roll

Epee

This is a salted butter roll. So bread this beautiful actually exists. Even inside this bakery, it stood out on its own. I brought it home and ate it, and it’s seriously delicious. The taste sits somewhere between a croissant and a plain white loaf. It’s worth going all the way to Kichijoji just to eat this bread.

I thought I’d tried pretty much every kind of bread out there, but there’s always another level above…

The lunch sets look reasonably priced too, so next time I’ll definitely have a meal here.
