Andongjang in Euljiro has been famous for its oyster jjamppong for ages. I had a meeting near Andongjang, so I stopped by. Or rather, I deliberately set up the meeting near Andongjang… I had to get in a bowl of oyster jjamppong before winter was over.
Oyster jjamppong
If you don’t get in right at opening time, the seats fill up fast. I hurried in and ordered, and out came a jjamppong with a really clean, refreshing napa cabbage broth. It goes well with the oysters, but it tastes quite different from your usual jjamppong. They also have a spicy jjamppong that’s closer to the regular kind, so some people might prefer that one.
The noodles
The noodles weren’t bad either, and the oyster jjamppong itself has real character, so I could see why this place has been loved for so long. I’ll have to set up another meeting around here next winter…
