Manganghong, a Chinese Restaurant in Gyodae

We had a college reunion, so I booked a perfectly ordinary Chinese restaurant.

Ohyang jangyuk (five-spice braised beef)

Manganghong

It’s the fastest dish to come out at any Chinese restaurant, so we order it to get the drinking started. Tasted pretty decent, too.

Salad

Manganghong

Yuxiang donggu (stuffed shiitake in yuxiang sauce)

Manganghong

Apparently this is the house specialty. Good portion, and the taste was satisfying.

Fried rice

Manganghong

So-so…

Spring rolls

Manganghong

Yangjangpi

Manganghong

Since it was all stuff I’ve eaten a hundred times, nothing really moved me, but the quality was fine. If anything, the problem in Korea is that every Chinese restaurant has more or less the same menu. In Japan, every Chinese place has at least one or two dishes of its own. Anyway, we kept it simple like this and moved on to round two.
