Buta Daigaku in Shinbashi

Because of where I work, I often end up passing through Shinbashi, but that doesn’t mean I have enough spare time to go hunting for great restaurants. There are a few places for a quick bite, and I tried one of them. I figure I’ll get the chance to introduce them one by one over time.

Front entrance

It’s right by the station, so it’s very easy to find.

Buta Daigaku

Given the nature of the food, the place is pretty grimy and smoky, so if you care about your clothes, you’re better off not going.

The table

Simple.

Miso soup and onsen tamago

Not bad at all. At least better than Yoshinoya.

Butadon, regular size

Considering the price, it’s a pretty generous serving. The sauce is on the sweet side, which reminded me a bit of Gyeongsangdo-jip. It’s a good place for a quick, filling meal.

The back of the shop..

It’s a bit sweet, so not something I’d eat often, but I think it’d be a nice stop whenever I get a craving for Korean-style pork galbi. Having lots of good-value eateries like this is probably one of the things that defines Japan.
