I’d heard for ages that there was a great restaurant called Super Pan in Ichon-dong, but Ichon-dong being Ichon-dong, I never had a reason to go. Setting aside time just to go eat somewhere really isn’t easy. Anyway, I got lucky and had a chance to visit.
Black soybean mascarpone
What sets this place apart is how generously, almost excessively, they use good ingredients. The owner is a culinary researcher, so she really knows where the flavor points are.
Oyster muchim
Made with huge oysters brought up from Tongyeong, there’s no way it wouldn’t be good.
Hamburg steak
The demi-glace sauce is seriously incredible; even in Japan there aren’t many places with a sauce this good. Who’d have thought I’d find a Hamburg steak in Korea that beats Japan’s.
Goulash
I went with a regular, so little extras kept coming out on the house. Not a single dish missed. You could say it’s a bit mild and understated, though.
A cup of tea
They take lunch in two seatings, which tells you how popular it is.
BREAD05
Turns out BREAD05, which disappeared from Hongdae, ended up here. This neighborhood really must be doing well.
