Opas, a Thai Bar in Yeonnam-dong

One hectic day I opened this whisky at Opas. I think the owner was curious and told me to go ahead and open it..

Three Rivers Littlemill 25 Year Old.

opas

It’s from a distillery that’s now closed, and it was the whisky of my life. Rosebank, Aultmore, and then this one, roughly..

That aroma, that explosive flavour.. it was just beautiful. Of course, being an independent bottler’s single malt, you can’t get it anymore no matter how much you want to.

The reason I love whisky is that it brings encounters like this. It’s the ultimate gastronomic experience. So I’m sure I’ll keep on loving whisky.

I ended up opening such a delicious whisky in the middle of all the chaos, but maybe that’s just what life is. Good things happen, bad things happen, bad things turn into good things, and it all gets complicated. If I live every moment as best I can and get to have experiences this intensely enjoyable, I think that’s not bad at all. Even managing that much takes steady effort, though.

Drinking this elegant, beautiful whisky gave me some comfort. Even if something knocks me down this time, I can just start over from the beginning with a fresh mind. The world is wide, and there’s still a mountain of things I want to do.
