I heard a decent bar had opened in Hongdae, so I went to check it out. It’s not the kind of location where you’d expect a bar like this, which got me wondering what the rent must be. (Us middle-aged guys are sensitive about real estate, you know..)

The bar

Properly stocked. Bars are popping up everywhere these days, but very few are at this level.

Daiquiri

The bartender apparently trained at a bar in Japan himself, and it was astonishingly good. It felt like being in a high-end bar in Ginza. I never imagined a bar of this level would open in Korea.

Probably a martini, among others

It’s a really excellent bar, but there’s talk that the owner has changed, and a rumor that someone who used to be at Old Knives is tending the bar now, so it’s a bit complicated. A search shows they’re still open. I’d have to go back to check on things, but these days I’ve got no friends to go with and no time either.. that’s how it is..
