Polpo is one of the very few places in Korea that makes pasta this good, so I go there often. I am friends with the owner, sure, but that and the food are two separate things.
Edamame
Nice to nibble on before the food arrives.
A bottle of wine, too
Trippa
Hanwoo uni maki
Shrimp ajillo
Chestnuts
Sea snail fregola
A pasta that goes really well with single malt
Pound cake
Finishing with the Balvenie
I drank a lot that night.
And not long after, I was back at Polpo again. Splitting it into two posts felt like a chore, so here it all is in one.
Avocado
Today’s wine
Eggplant gratin
With this much cheese piled on, there is no way it could taste bad.
Hanwoo uni maki
Needs no explanation..
Lagavulin
The Distillers Edition, which is hard to find in Korea.
Blue crab rosé pasta
The pasta you would regret not ordering
Sea snail fregola
A truly delicious pasta.
Madeleines
Solid desserts are one of Polpo’s strengths.
Snacks
We still had drinks left, so we asked for a few more snacks.
Cachaça
A spirit brought all the way from Brazil. I got to try it thanks to Nokjang. It is good neat, but I suspect it would be even better as a caipirinha.
