I had been hearing since the start of the year that Pierre Hermé was coming, and at the end of July it finally opened. I had forgotten all about it, but it came up while I was searching, so I went to have a look.

Inside

The walk from Samseong Station to Hyundai Department Store has gotten a bit rough, but once I got there the shop itself was nicely done up. The cakes have not arrived yet, though.. I do not think you can really say Pierre Hermé has arrived until the Ispahan gets imported. It will come someday, I suppose.

Chocolates

Far from being there just to round out the lineup, the chocolates seemed to be the main push. Pierre Hermé is not all that famous for chocolate, so I expect things will get rearranged once the cakes come in.

A bit pricey to buy for yourself, but they seemed fine as gifts.

Feels like something is missing in the middle.. next time I will have to come early in the morning.

With the weather this hot it would have been nice to have ice cream, but for some reason there was none. Maybe they could not sort out a proper freezer.

Time to taste the macarons.

The filling is good, but the shells feel a bit crumbly. Probably because they come in frozen. It feels plenty luxurious, but on taste alone the domestic competitors are doing well enough that there is not much of an edge here. Same as with Ladurée, they are not made in Korea, so it is a little disappointing for the price, but still, it is nice to see an international brand like this arrive. Next time, if the Ispahan cake or the Mosaïc comes in, I will have nothing left to wish for.
