Hanseong Samgyetang, Sinsa-dong, on Boknal Day

It was Boknal, one of the dog days of summer, so we had a company lunch outing, and we went to a place called Hanseong Samgyetang. It seems to be a sister shop of Hanseong Tonkatsu, a tonkatsu place that is fairly well known around this neighborhood.

Side dishes

Simple, but they taste pretty good. Samgyetang is not exactly cheap, so I guess they have no choice but to put some care into the side dishes too.

Samgyetang

hansung samgyetang

It is the style loaded with perilla seeds, so the broth was really smooth and nutty. It tastes a bit different from your typical samgyetang – probably in the Hosu Samgyetang lineage – but it was good. Come to think of it, I still have not been to any of the big three samgyetang places in Seoul. The line at Tosokchon is just way too long. If I put them on my list, a chance to go will come along someday. And honestly, even if no chance comes anytime soon, it does not really matter. Summer comes around every year.
