Patio 42 is a fairly well-known Italian chain. The main branch is in Seorae Village, and I’ve spotted branches all over Gangnam. I usually don’t post about franchises, but I found it curious that an Italian restaurant had opened on the hill in Sinsa-dong, so here it is. New restaurants keep popping up on Garosu-gil, but on the hill across the street there’s really nothing at all.

It doesn’t look all that big from the outside, but once you’re inside there’s terrace seating too. It’s a size that can handle a group of around ten without much trouble. The interior is on the modern side as well.

We came for lunch, and the 9,900 won special lunch looked decent, so we ordered one for each of us.

Hmm… it’s called a special lunch, but so far I couldn’t tell what was special about it. But then…

Tomato pasta

Slightly spicy. The pasta was cooked about right, too.

Bacon cream pasta

It tastes good, but the portion is generous. If you’re a light eater, two people could share one.

The lunch pizza came as a whole pie, not a slice. How is one person supposed to eat all this…

Probably the salami pizza

They don’t use anything special for the ingredients, but it was baked nicely. Seems like they have a proper oven inside… At this price, this is really excellent.

Gorgonzola pizza

The stuff that came with it didn’t seem to be honey, more like syrup, but either way it went well with the pizza.

The problem is that you end up eating way too many carbs, but the value for money here is truly outstanding. Climbing up the hill is a bit of a hassle, but there’s hardly any competition in this neighborhood… I think business will do just fine. I would have loved to eat half and take the other half home, but since I was there with a group I couldn’t, which was a bit of a shame.
