A place in Yeonnam-dong called Eojjeoda Gage (the name means something like “the shop you happen upon”) has been getting popular lately. It’s a spot that puts the sharing economy into practice, and after only seeing it in photos on Twitter, I finally went, and it really is a wonderful place.

Not just pretty to look at; the taste was very satisfying too. And the prices were at a level that didn’t hurt much.

Another plus is that you can buy things from the shop next door and eat them here. The tart was really delicious.

They keep chocolate on hand as the bar’s own original snack, and it’s delicious. Whisky and chocolate have always been a good pairing, but for it to be this good, the chocolatier must be really skilled. They say they use chocolate from a place called Chocolat DJ; I’d like to visit the main shop sometime.

With the hot weather, the coolers and highballs just keep going down. I asked for mine to be made with a slightly peaty whisky as the base, and it felt a bit more refreshing than a regular cooler.

You can also order from the lounge menu. Nothing special taste-wise; about right for when you’re hungry, I’d say.

Kiosk toast with banana topping

Kiosk is supposedly fairly well known, but the toast sold at the lounge didn’t feel properly toasted. The tarts from Peace Piece made a better bar snack. Still, since there are so few bars in Korea with a menu this varied (they even have chocolate from Bittersweet 9..), I think the bar has set its direction well.

Even without me going out of my way to promote it, it’s become a bar that does great business, with plenty of people coming from far away. If anything, the key now seems to be how well you can avoid the busy hours. I’ve been back several more times since this day, and I’ll post those bit by bit.
