These days I mostly haunt the Sinsa-dong area, so I end up eating on Garosu-gil a lot. The street has ballooned so fast that there aren’t many time-tested restaurants left on it. I had a lunch date and agonised over where to go, then settled on a safe choice.
Fried Banana & Gorgonzola
An ordinary item, but tasty. Then again, it’d be harder to deep-fry something and have it not taste good. It looked like a decent side dish, so I gave it a try.
Quattro Formaggi Pizza
This is another of their signature items. It was nicely baked.

You can mix and match these to enjoy the pizza in all sorts of ways. We kept it very light and headed out. The place has a clean, neat vibe and quite a reputation, so even at weekday lunchtime it was packed.
For round two we meant to go to La Pomme, but they said it didn’t open until 2, so we made a quick U-turn and went to Deux Amis instead. Dessert shops in Hongdae like Bittersweet 9 usually open at 2 as well, but I’m not sure Garosu-gil needs to keep those hours too.
Strawberry Shortcake
Before Lady M came along this was a competitive shortcake, but these days, well… I still enjoyed it.
Lemon Tea
Garosu-gil is changing so abruptly that keeping up with it isn’t easy. I just hope places like these manage to stick around for a long, long time.
