Following on from Cafe Mamas, here is one more brunch feature. On a weekend morning when I could not be bothered to make breakfast, I went to a brunch cafe on Garosu-gil called The Flying Pan. Being a weekend, and this being such a popular place, it is hard to get a table if you show up around noon, so you need to come a bit early. I arrived around 11:30 and just barely managed to get a seat by the door, and after that people kept coming in and asking if there was a table free.

It is on the inner side of Garosu-gil. The sign stands out, so it was not hard to find.

Chicken avocado salad with toast

As you would expect from a brunch specialist, the prices are not exactly cheap. But the ingredients and the cooking were excellent. Add the lovely atmosphere, and I think it is worth the price.

Pancakes

The pancakes were among the best I have ever had. Neither dry nor chewy, and the sweetness is just right. I hear they use Le Gall butter, which may be why the flavour is so smooth. Much better than bills or Eggs ‘n Things, in my opinion.

They have a few branches around town and the place has been famous for a long time, but I did not expect it to be this good. I have never really been a brunch person, so I had no interest in this scene, but if I ever need to go for brunch again, this place will be the first that comes to mind.

That said, the brunch menu is pricier than you might expect, so I would only recommend it to people who like this kind of resort-style food. If we compare the same pancakes, Butterfinger Pancakes charges less than half the price and gives you twice the calories.
