I do like Choma, but the line there is just too long and the menu is limited, so I don’t end up going all that often. I heard a branch of Songtan’s Yeongbinru had opened in Hongdae, so I happily went to check it out.

Tangsuyuk

Unlike Choma it is a chain of sorts, but the tangsuyuk that came out was pretty decent.

Jjamppong

Yeongbinru’s reputation was built on its jjamppong. As expected, the smoky wok flavor falls a little short of Choma’s, but it was a perfectly respectable jjamppong

Gan-jjajang

Looking good.

Sauce poured on

This one was really tasty. Honestly, I was happier with this than with the jjamppong.

Fried rice

A Chinese restaurant that is a bit above average. It would work well as a late-night second stop to sober up when you have nowhere else to go. I just hope the quality holds up from here on.
