Chinkatei, a Chinese restaurant tucked away in a corner of Asakusa, does a great tantanmen, so I end up going there for lunch fairly often.

Hiyashi tantanmen

It tasted almost the same as their shirunashi (soupless) tantanmen. A bit spicy, but I enjoyed it.

I ordered it because I felt like rice rather than noodles, but it was a bit sweet. I have a feeling there is a better set meal on the menu, but I will have to go a few more times to find out.

Oyster gratin at Royal Host

Family restaurants have clean interiors, which makes them handy for business lunches. The food is, well.. ordinary, but the seasonal menu items are at least decent, so I gave this one a try.

I ordered the hamburg steak set at a hamburg specialist in Tawaramachi.

Just ordinary, really. Asakusa has Mont Blanc, an outstanding hamburg steak place, so anything else inevitably gets compared to it.

Spicy chicken don

This one is not in Asakusa but the lunch menu at Bojagi, a Korean restaurant near Daimon. The place is clean and cheap, so there was a long line at lunchtime. Anywhere with lots of office workers has a place or two like this. It was a nice spot for a casual meal. It might be fun to compile a list of the places where office workers line up in each district. The food has to be good, but the prices also have to be reasonable for people to queue up, I suppose. The trouble is, at places like that the line is too long for an ordinary visitor -_- so unless you live in the neighborhood, they are hard to recommend.
