A while back I dropped by a Chinese place called Saien near Kameido, and I heard a rumour that its main branch is in Asakusa, so I went one weekend. It was the place with the really good jun reba-don (stir-fried liver over rice).

It is in the back streets of Asakusa, around Kannon-ura. The shop looked pretty run-down.

There were all sorts of things on the menu, tanmen, ramen and so on, but I ordered the jun reba-don.

Sweet, as expected. It feels like tasting the very essence of B-kyu gourmet.

By the time I finished the bowl, the sugar was getting to be a bit much. Ordering one ramen as well and splitting them half and half might be the best way to go.
It was a really hot day.
Even the sparrows were showering in a puddle. I found it funny and tried to take a picture, but it did not come out as well as I hoped.
Leonidas in Hikifune
I needed to buy a present, and there are not many places selling chocolate in Asakusa, so I went all the way to Hikifune to get some. Patissier Inamura Shozo between Ueno and Uguisudani came to mind too, but theirs is nama chocolate and might melt on the way.. This place is decent value for money too. Come to think of it, Asakusa has just about everything. There is little reason to leave, so lately I have been wandering around almost only in Asakusa.
