I stopped by Endo Risaburo Shoten, one of the best-known wine bistros in Tokyo’s old shitamachi district. The plan was just to have a casual drink. I dropped in late on a weekend evening and the place was packed. It was noisy, but that is exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes a drink taste better.
A glass of wine and a shandy gaff
The glass wine was nothing special, but the shandy gaff had a strong ginger kick that left an impression.
Baguette
Instead of a seating charge, they charge you for the baguette.
Meat pate
This is the house signature, and it goes perfectly with a drink. The other dishes looked good too, but I was too full that night to eat any more. If there is one big problem with this place, it is that it is not cheap. They also have a more affordable second brand, so next time I should try that one.
