I was wondering where to have lunch in Kichijoji and settled on Chikurosanbo, a Chinese restaurant with a high Tabelog score. I wanted something a bit more serious than a cafe lunch.

First, a daytime drink.. The place is pretty big, but it filled up the moment it opened. It is clearly popular.
Spicy stir-fried white fish with nuts and vegetables
More ordinary than I expected. They do use good ingredients, but the taste falls far short of that Tabelog score level.
Stir-fried spring burdock and Tankaku beef with egg
Even to look at, it is an ordinary dish. The prices here are fairly steep, and I wondered why this is all they can manage. Several notches below Ryuen in Asakusa.

Coconut milk shiruko with bird’s nest
Maybe because of the bird’s nest, a luxury ingredient, the texture was really nice, but for 1,575 yen it left something to be desired. They do try hard here, but it just does not work for me.
Dessert ice cream
Failures happen in life, but these days quite a few of mine are down to Tabelog ratings. There is not much you can trust in this world, but this seems to have a lot of problems. From now on I need to look not just at the score but at the photos of the food and analyze more carefully.
Strawberry shortcake and Mont Blanc from A Tes Souhaits
Since I was in Kichijoji, there was no way I could skip A Tes Souhaits. As always, the taste was top-notch. I would love to come now and then, but it is just too far T_T. I will just stick to Au Bon Vieux Temps.
