I am right in the middle of a diet these days, and on weekdays I mostly head home early, so I hardly have time to go hunting for good restaurants. Still, it is nice to have a few good places lined up for when friends visit, and getting up early on a weekend morning to cook is a hassle, so I decided to spend one day every weekend going around the places in my neighborhood that are known to be good. The first place I visited was Grill Sakura, which I had been to once before.
Crab cream croquettes
I had ordered this dish before, but it still amazes me how they manage to turn a cream stew packed with crab meat into a croquette.
Toast
I could not order this last time, so I tried it this time. It was thick and nicely toasted, and I was very satisfied while eating it, but not long after that I had some incredibly good toast elsewhere, and since then I doubt I will ever order toast when eating out again.
Beef stew
There are very few places in Korea that serve beef stew, so it is a shame that you probably cannot imagine the taste. It seems to have been simmered in the sauce for a long time, and while it is a little on the sweet side, the meat falls apart softly and just melts in your mouth. In a word, it is incredibly delicious. If you ever go to Grill Sakura, I highly recommend trying it.
When I came out, the place right next door looked good too. There are so many good restaurants in Asakusa that I have no idea when I will ever get through them all.
