During the Buja Pizza meetup the other day I happened to pass by Itaewon and spotted Oroom Dining. I had been hearing the name for ages, but who knew it was tucked away in a spot like this. I had been meaning to go someday, so I took the chance and went.
The table
Nice clean interior. From the outside it looked fairly small, and maybe because it sits off the beaten path there were hardly any customers. I liked the quiet atmosphere.
The setting
Small as the place is, the table setting was at a level worthy of fine dining.
Wine by the glass
It was lunch, so I had a glass of white.
Antipasto
The shrimp head was so-so, but the rest was good. The soup was delicious.
Bread
I asked, and they said they use bread from Maybell Bakery.. In that case a slightly crustier bread might have been nice, too..
Salad
Calling this fine dining is a bit of a stretch.
Herb chicken
Bistro style, they put half a chicken on the plate. The seasoning was just right and it was cooked properly, but above all I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume. For an average appetite, ordering one and sharing it between two would be plenty.
Steak
Here too, a dish piled full of well-cooked meat. It seems to be the lunch special menu, which made me curious about what comes out in the evening.
Dessert
Nothing special.
Tea
It came out bistro style rather than the fine dining style I like, so it was a little different from what I had expected, but I was satisfied with the cooking itself. With a place like this it seems hard to judge it without coming back for dinner. I am sure I would be satisfied, but I am curious what style it would come in.
