These days more and more good bakeries keep popping up. I try to drop in on the famous ones at least once, and since this place has built a bit of a reputation of its own, I made the time and went. It may count as the greater Hongdae area, but it is on the far side of Hapjeong Station, so unless you live in that neighborhood it is not somewhere you visit on a whim.
The bakery
It has been picked for the Blue Ribbon, too. Once inside, looking around the shop, the bread really is cheap – figure about 30% below Publique’s prices. And like a proper neighborhood bakery, it also carries plenty of plain, inexpensive bread.
The bread I bought
For all that it is tasty and cheap, it is not high-quality enough to call a great bakery. I don’t think you need to make a special trip from far away the way you would for Publique. Of course, if you are short on pocket money but still want good bread, then it is worth the visit.
