Right after I got back to Korea, there was a small welcome-home meetup at 2chef. It’s such a popular place these days that getting a reservation wasn’t easy.
The sommelier knife case I’d commissioned this time..
It’s the work of a skilled leather craftsman, but since he made it without the actual knife in hand, it came out a little big. I’ll still put it to good use.
Bread
They do a pretty good job. Wherever I go in this price range, it’s hard to find a place that does as well as 2chef. If you know one, let me know..
Salad
This was a gathering from a month ago, so I’ve pretty much forgotten what we ate.
La Campagne
This is bread I brought back from Tokyo, and it’s pretty tasty toasted. The flavours are as varied as the colours. It keeps well, so you can stash it in the freezer and eat it little by little. Expect to see it a lot at my meetups from now on.
Beef tenderloin carpaccio
They served it tataki-style. I think this is the first time I’ve seen it done this way in Korea.. It reminded me of the wagyu tataki I had at Akishima in Matsue.
Gorgonzola pasta
It goes well with red wine, and it’s a dish that’s hard to get wrong. If there’s any problem, it’s that I drop by 2chef way too often.. The chefs seem to get a bit tense whenever I show up..
Tenderloin steak
There really aren’t many places that do this well at this price. Sure, there are places with bigger portions.. but that kind of convenience is a big part of why I go to 2chef so often. I’d like to try lots of different places, but I’ll take my time and go around mainly to trustworthy spots that people recommend.
Hokkaido Camembert and dried figs
This is the dessert I brought. It’s decent enough~ heh..
Fondant au chocolat
2chef’s dessert. It’s an upgrade on the crème brûlée they used to do, but something this rich after a big meal was a bit much. Especially since the gatherings I host always end up with way too many desserts..

We took it fairly easy that day and wrapped up around here. Going through my photos, I see I went back several more times after that. And I’ve got a few more visits planned..
Since I post everything in chronological order without skipping anything, the same place popping up again and again might make the blog a bit boring. But I can’t really afford to go hunting for other easy-going places right now, so please bear with me..
