I had a little time to spare, so I dropped into a cafe near Lake Shinji. It’s called Tachibana, and it’s also well known for its wagashi.
You can see the lake out the window.
Great view.
Izumo-style zenzai
It’s a kind of sweet red bean soup. Very sweet. It comes with salt and kombu on the side. I was short on time and couldn’t finish it.
A wagashi called “Wild Camellia” and matcha
It came out like a work of art. The taste is probably ordinary, though.
This place wrapped up an intense gourmet itinerary. Every time I finish one of these food trips, I feel my eating level go up a notch. There’s only so much you can do eating on your own, after all. I hope I keep getting chances to grow like this. I should set up get-togethers like this more often.
