Yeongsangang is a hongeo (fermented skate) restaurant near Nambu Bus Terminal subway station. To celebrate being back in Korea after a long while, I went to have some skate.

It wasn’t hard to find.
We sat and waited for the rest of the group to arrive, and the ajumma kept coming in and giving us looks, asking when we were going to order. Once enough people had gathered we ordered hongeo-hoe (sliced raw skate), and what came out was hongeo samhap. -_-; It’s been a really long time since a place just went ahead and ignored my order.
So here’s the skate that came out

This is how you build a samhap and eat it.
The pungent, nose-tingling skate, the tender pork and the sour, well-aged kimchi hit a perfect harmony. Really wonderful. This is exactly why you have to come to Korea to eat Korean food.
We order one yeonpotang (small octopus soup).
As you’d expect from a specialist, it’s clean and refreshing.

Maesaengi soup
The maesaengi was good too, but the atmosphere was so stern that we left soon. Why go out of your way to chase customers out.. If someone told me to go again, I’d hesitate a lot. And then we head off for a second round.
