This post was written in 2006. Some information may be out of date.
I went to a place called the Oki Islands. They’re about 70 km off the Japanese mainland, something like Ulleungdo back in Korea.
The scenery is stunning enough to be part of a national park, but apart from that there wasn’t much to look forward to.
Especially the food. Nothing really good to eat.. I was a little crushed.
At Shichirui Port
Taken from the morning ferry.
Inside the ship
It takes two and a half hours to reach the islands. My first long boat trip in ages.
Clouds seen from the ship
The weather was clear. Feels like my travel luck has been really good for once.
The sea is sparkling.
It looks just like an oil painting.
The port
As soon as we arrived we rented a car and drove around.
A single cloud
The sparkling sea
It keeps glittering nonstop, as if someone had scattered silver dust over it.
Behind the port
Strange rocks and odd cliffs.. I guess you could call it
From the car
I sat in the passenger seat and pressed the shutter.
From inside the car
The feeling of driving along a coast like this.. it’s really amazing.
The walking trail at Shirashima
An emerald-colored sea.
The view from the Shirashima Observatory
The sea here is truly gorgeous.
Sunset
The sun going down. Landscapes shot with the 85mm somehow have a special feel to them.
