At noon on day one I arrived at the Chisun Hotel, a business hotel in Hamamatsucho, Tokyo.
It’s close to Haneda Airport and cheap too, so I saw plenty of Korean guests.
I didn’t have time to go anywhere far, so I ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel.
I ordered the day’s special, a crab croquette and soup curry set. It’s 1,000 yen including the salad bar and drink bar. I took the photo after I’d already had a spoonful. -_-;;
It was better than I expected. The croquette wasn’t exactly packed with filling, but it came out hot and fresh, and when you bite into it the cheese inside melts in your mouth. The soup curry wasn’t harsh either, and had a nice depth of flavor. If my office were near this hotel, I might well have had lunch here every day.
Blueberry/cassis juice from the drink bar… it’s been ages since I’ve seen a drink bar serving juice this good ^_^ The salad bar didn’t have much variety, but they used good ingredients.
Dinner that day was at an izakaya called Gazen, on the 6th floor of DECKS in Odaiba. I’d left my camera behind and shot these with my phone camera, so the quality is terrible. Sorry.
The view here is killer. You can see the Rainbow Bridge through the huge windows.
It wasn’t like this until recently, but lately boats have started cruising between Odaiba and Tokyo Bay. It’s a sight I mostly used to see in Yokohama, but it seems to have moved to Odaiba now… The view and the atmosphere are fantastic.
The bibimbap, apparently the most popular dish here. It tasted pretty good. On the whole they only use good ingredients. And at 390 yen, the price was ridiculously kind for Odaiba.

There are lots of dishes I didn’t get photos of. Oh well… We also ordered vegetable sticks, and there was nothing to fault in either the freshness of the vegetables or the miso that came with them.
Three of us stuffed ourselves with drinks and food and it didn’t even come to 10,000 yen… this is the first izakaya of this caliber I’ve found since coming to Japan. You could say it goes beyond everything you’d expect of an izakaya. It’s not quite the place to expect peak flavors, but for having a great time at a restaurant with atmosphere and a good view, I don’t think anywhere beats it.
