On the morning of day two I met up with a friend who lives in Tokyo, for the first time in ages. We were both so busy that morning was the only time we could meet, so we decided to drop into a hotel nearby and have breakfast together.
So we went to the breakfast buffet on the 33rd floor of The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, the Tokyo Prince Hotel’s new annex. Apparently it’s only been open for a year.

This is the kind of seat you eat at.
It’s a buffet, so I grabbed a bit of everything. My plating is a mess, sadly.
The ingredients were great, and fresh.. The weakest thing was the ham; everything else was really delicious.. It was the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had.
The vegetable juice was really good too. (At most hotels it just tastes like chewing raw vegetables..)
A plain omurice.. Not bad, but not exactly outstanding either..
I left a bit of it. To save room for fruit..
What I liked most about this hotel buffet was that it had fresh fruit (mango and papaya in particular).
I piled it on and ate heaps.
The atmosphere, the food and the service are all good here.. but it’s really pricey.. Unless your hotel gives you a breakfast voucher, I don’t think it’s worth going out of your way for. (The restaurant at the New Otani I went to before had just as good a view, but it can’t match the sheer impact of Tokyo Tower standing right in front of you..)
Lunch that day was just a quick bowl of udon because work was so busy, and in the evening I went to a very cheap izakaya called Sakura Suisan.
This is the otoshi (the little starter that comes with your drink). As you can see from the menu below, it’s incredibly cheap for Tokyo.
A big-size beer. It’s about a whole bottle’s worth.
The freshness and flavour are a bit lacking, but the tuna sashimi is ridiculously cheap
What was this again.. hamo (pike conger), maybe..
Here too we ate and drank until we were ready to burst, and even leaving about half the food it came to 3,000 yen per person. It’s not really a place for travellers, but if you live in Tokyo it looks like the kind of place you’d end up going to all the time ^_^
