I went to Yokohama on Saturday. Yokohama, Kobe and Chiba have something in common:
all three are port cities. (Though as ports go, they’re nothing like Incheon -_-)
Yokohama and Kobe are alike in a lot of ways. They have long histories, so there are plenty of historic buildings,
they both have a Chinatown, and they’re well set up for tourists. Chiba just has a port and that’s it.
Thanks to the earthquake, Kobe’s buildings and streets are all brand new.. it has a clean, quiet, cozy
feel. Yokohama, by comparison, is more future-oriented, I’d say.. and it has a bit more to see
than Kobe. ^_^; Seems like a great place for a day trip. I thought it would be far from Tokyo,
but it turns out it’s only 17 minutes from Shinagawa Station.
All the photos from here on were taken with an *ist DS and a 50mm f/2 or a 35mm f/2. Most of them I only
resized. (I can’t adjust quality or color on my laptop.. which is pretty inconvenient.)

This was some famous ship.. but I can’t remember..
The Red Brick Warehouse. It was built as a warehouse 100 years ago, lay in ruins for a while, and was reopened a year ago
as a tourist attraction. An action performance band is playing to celebrate the launch of a new sightseeing bus
called Akaikutsu (“Red Shoes”).
The Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal. The view is fantastic.
The walkway into the terminal.. the half-moon-shaped building on the far right is the InterContinental Yokohama Grand.
The tall building on the left is the Landmark Tower, once the tallest building in Japan. Apart from the view
from the Landmark observatory, this is easily the best view in Yokohama.
There’s even a lawn on top of the terminal. I lay down spread-eagled here and napped for about 10 minutes.
The weather was gorgeous that day. There was a wedding going on off to one side.. I was so jealous..
A wedding on a sunny day like this, somewhere with a great view.. and then straight onto a ship for the honeymoon..
Just too perfect.. ^_^; (I was asleep, so I didn’t get any wedding photos.)
