After visiting Yabacho I wandered around the neighborhood and ended up at Osu Shopping Street. Turns out the two are connected. I didn’t realize it at first, but it’s a huge shopping district with loads to see.
The place
Tons of people and tons of shops.
SOLO PIZZA Napoletana
There was a branch of SOLO PIZZA, which I’d really enjoyed before, right here. Love it.
School Food
Didn’t expect to see this here..
Shintenchi-dori
Who knew a place like this existed..
Takoyaki
Lots of people here.
Whiskies I spotted on the way
They had Yamazaki and a whole range of others. Pretty impressive..
Inside
Packed with people, and the arcades are long and maze-like.
Matcha soft serve
There’s even a place like this..
A takoyaki specialist
Apparently Nagoya takoyaki is a bit different from Osaka’s, so I’d like to try it someday.
Osu Dungeon Shokudo
A cafe that looks like it was inspired by Delicious in Dungeon.
Osu Kannon-dori
There are several entrances.
The street
Cross the road and Osu Shopping Street just keeps going.
Curry bread
It looked tasty as I walked by, so I took a picture.
Kushihei
Looks like an izakaya, and it was packed even in the daytime.
Shopping street scenery
Lovely.
Kushikatsu
A place like this looks pretty good too.
Mukashi no Yabaton
There was a Yabaton with a Showa-era vibe. Worth a visit if you’re a tourist.
Yabaton
This one even has a takeout counter.
Tennen taiyaki (each one baked in its own mold)
There’s even a place like this.
There’s a bell.
There was something like a temple, too.
The place
It was right next to the shopping street. Lots to see around here.
Gyoza no Ohsho and Kushikatsu Tanaka
There are down-to-earth places like these, too.
Osu Niomon-dori
I think this gate is the biggest.
Inside
It’s flashy. Just covering Osu Shopping Street would take ages, so I called it there and headed toward Nagoya Station. I’ll have to set aside a whole day sometime and explore from the morning.
Classic cars I spotted on the way
A few of them drove past together, which looked great.
A Sri Lankan restaurant
Loved the design..
Nikujiru Gyoza Seisakujo
It looked delicious, so I took a picture. Serious presence.
A park
Walk around and you’ll find parks here and there.
Back-alley scenery
I really like scenes like this..
Hida Beef Bone Takayama Ramen Matsuri
The sign looked cool, so I took a picture. Takayama ramen from Hida is actually the ramen that shows up in the movie Your Name, which seems to have made it famous nationwide. That said, I don’t think the ramen in the movie was a beef bone ramen.
Sawada Shoten
I took this because the sign saying “kakigori” (shaved ice) looked cool. Lots of shops with character around here.
Cigar Club KANOU
This one looks atmospheric too.. Apparently they do omurice curry at lunch, which sounds like it’d be tasty.
Asadaya, handmade udon and soba
This one looks good too.
Hydrangeas
They were pretty, so I snapped a shot as I passed.
Kinshachi
Another one I just thought looked great as I walked by. As you’d expect from a city with such a long history, there are lots of wonderful spots.
