I’ve been having a lot of gatherings at Ae lately. Since the seasonal menu changes slightly every time I visit, it’s a great place to go often.
Baekgyeong Gold
I brought this along, and it paired really well with the Japanese food.
Saika
We ordered this that day, and it was quite good too.
Basic Appetizer
It doesn’t look like much, but I couldn’t stop eating it.
Sashimi Moriawase
I’m impressed every single time I eat this.
Mackerel Pressed Sushi
The fish is perfectly fatty.
Fried Oysters
It’s winter, so you have to have these…
Grilled Fish
Subuta
I recall it being Spanish mackerel, but I’m not entirely sure.
Manocmore
This is the Manocmore from the Three Rivers Dance series. It’s a 27-year-old whisky distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2016, based on bourbon hogsheads. It’s a light, fruity whisky with a strong apple scent—I didn’t know whisky could smell like apples. Bottles from this series are famous for being incredibly hard to find, and each one is like a piece of art. Tasting it was a truly delightful experience… a sexy drink to match its sexy bottle design.
Ankimo and Sweet Shrimp
Since we’re drinking, we need more snacks.
Isobe Maki
It’s light and clean, making it a great pairing for drinks.
Sushi
Oh, we had sushi too…
Fried Horse Mackerel
Delicious.
Gimbap
I think they gave this to us on the house because we ordered so many dishes…
Gunsan-style Braised Pollack
Perfect for sobering up.
Beniharuka Sticks
I brought these myself, but the portion size is a bit too small.
Drinks of the Day
We sure drank a lot… anyway, it was a wonderful gathering.
