There was a Shingen mochi factory nearby, so I stopped in.
A sign like this
This is where they sell freshly made Shingen mochi. Besides the factory there’s all sorts of other stuff. There’s a restaurant, an outlet, and so on.
Price Half
It’s a place like this, selling desserts on the cheap. They don’t sell Shingen mochi here, though. They sell all kinds of desserts at low prices, so it might be worth a visit if you’re interested.
Ginza West factory direct-sales shop
There’s a direct-sales shop of Ginza West, a dessert shop that’s famous nationwide. Good value for money.
Heidi’s Village natural mineral water
I took this at the convenience store inside the factory; actually there’s a Heidi-themed restaurant nearby too, and Heidi has a deep connection with Yamanashi.
A notice saying today’s numbered tickets for the tsumehodai (stuff-all-you-can bag) had all been handed out.
Tsumehodai means they give you one bag and you can take home as much as you can stuff into it. The tickets ran out at 6:30 in the morning. If you pack it in tight, it seems you can get them for about half the list price. If you have lots of people to hand out souvenirs to, it might be worth taking advantage of a chance like this, but showing up before 6:30 a.m. just to grab a ticket isn’t exactly easy. And 6:30 is on a lucky day; they say sometimes it’s over by 5:30. I think too many people are lining up.
Outside the factory
The shop inside
They sell all kinds of desserts. This is on the opposite side from the Shingen mochi counter, and it’s not hard to get in.
The factory
They were hard at work making them… somehow it inspires confidence.
Shingen mochi cat plushie
I have no idea what it’s for, but it sure was cute…
Shingen mochi
They sell it a little cheaper here. There were tons of people.
Cat
Cats seem to be popular everywhere… Anyway, I bought one as a gift and headed out. Everyone loves Shingen mochi.
Ginza West desserts
I stopped by on the way, and it was worth it since they sell them much cheaper than at a department store… Even better value than Shingen mochi.
Garden
It’s autumn, so the fall foliage is pretty.
