The Stone Museum looks like some kind of museum, but it’s actually a gemstone experience center. Yamanashi is hugely famous for gemstone production, so you’ll find facilities like this all over the place.

I guess the great thing about Kawaguchiko is that you can see Mt. Fuji no matter where you point your camera. But when the weather turns bad, you can’t see Mt. Fuji at all, even though it looks this close.

Dig hard through the sand and they come out.

The ones in capsules are the slightly pricier gems. I found about four, and if you haven’t found many, the staff will give you a rough idea of where to look..
