Mekonggang, a Korean Restaurant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia: Second Visit

I’m back at Mekonggang.

Banchan like this

Mekong river.

Nice and tidy. When you go abroad, you sometimes get the feeling that a culture that has already disappeared in Korea is still going strong here. I honestly can’t remember the last time I was served a spread like this back in Korea..

Lettuce

Mekong river.

When meat shows up, you need something to wrap it in.

Samgyeopsal

Mekong river.

Delicious.

Jjigae

Mekong river.

This is exactly the Korean style.

Can’t quite remember what this was..

Mekong river.

It was pretty good.

Cheonggukjang

Mekong river.

Even in Korea there aren’t many places that serve cheonggukjang this rich, so I never expected to end up eating it in Cambodia.

Watermelon

Mekong river.

For dessert..

The thing is.. the problem with coming on a business trip is that I end up eating far too well. The food is so good that stopping at a reasonable amount is not an easy thing to do.. Which is probably why Ohta’s Isan exists. A must-have for the modern office worker, I suppose..
