With the year-end holidays coming up, I headed over to Donki. I remember the lineup being pretty good last year too.

They were putting this out a little ahead of the official release date. It had been all over the internet, so I grabbed one early.

Grand Maison Paris hot pot broth

A hot pot broth from Grand Maison, the restaurant chasing three stars… well, it isn’t quite at that level. There was a hint of truffle, so the flavour was decent. The unusual part is that you finish it off with pasta at the end.

Merry Christmas fried chicken set

For whatever reason, Christmas in Japan means selling fried chicken, and the quality was pretty solid.

But even when I buy something like this I can never finish it… and there’s the chicken to get through too.

Donki is fun just to wander around, which is what I like about it.

These days you actually see it sitting on the shelf. Not at a price I’d want to pay, though.

Dassai, Mori Izo, Murao, Maou

These ones are reasonably priced. Enough to make me want to take a bottle home.

Suntory Premium Highball Yamazaki

They kept putting out odd things, but this one is actually drinkable. Maybe the buying frenzy from China is finally winding down.

Christmas cake

I ordered it and picked it up. Feels like another year well spent.
