à la ringo, the apple dessert shop that flew in from Aomori

I was wandering around the Entetsu Department Store in Hamamatsu when a dessert shop that had flown in from Aomori for a pop-up event caught my eye.

The candy apples really stand out

Apple pie

It already looks delicious sitting there, and it tastes just as good once you buy one.

Candy apple

A la ringo

Normally a ringo ame is just a whole apple with a candy shell coated over the outside and that’s it, so this is the first time I’ve seen one cut up to make it easy to eat. You can probably all guess what the problem with that is: once you prep an apple like this it inevitably browns, but this one doesn’t? It’s kind of fascinating, and doing it this way makes it really easy to eat and really tasty. The apples themselves are good quality, so of course they taste even better.

Who knew there was a dessert shop of this quality up in Aomori.. If I get the time, I’d love to take a trip to Aomori as well.
