Perfectly edible, nothing more. At places like this I think the plain tonkatsu is the safest bet.
Mala peanuts
I picked these up at a Chinese grocery, and eating them put me through a very rough time.. Unless you have a good reason, it’s better not to buy the strange stuff.

Wherever you go these days the pork is good. I have no idea when Korean pork got this good.

It’s on the menu at the tonkatsu place, and this one comes in a decent portion.
Gontran Cherrier’s campagne pruneau noisette
There aren’t many places selling bread at night, so I gave it a try, but it wasn’t all that good. Probably because it had been sitting around a while after baking..

A tteokbokki place in Yeongdong Market that stays open late into the night; the taste is middle of the road but the price is fine.
Kubota Junmai Daiginjo
I bought it at a duty-free shop and then didn’t store it particularly well, but it drinks fine. There is more than one or two sakes like this around these days.
Hakushu 18 Year Old
Hakushu is delicious. But the retail price is over 100,000 yen.. Whether it’s a whisky worth drinking at that price is another question, but anyway, friends came over to my place and whisky is what I have, so I cracked it open. If you’re going to drink it, drinking it with friends is the best way. The taste is great, of course, and if there’s one thing to regret it’s that it’s only 43% ABV.. Next time I’ll just have to open something stronger..
