I paid a visit to Seongsu Jokbal, one of the three great jokbal joints of Seoul.

It had exactly this atmosphere even before Seongsu-dong got trendy, and nothing has changed since.

When I just said I wanted it to go, they handed it over the moment I paid. It’s a busy shop, so everything feels systematised, I suppose.

Jokbal

As you can see, it’s moist, has a nice chew and isn’t all that sweet – exactly to my taste. I’d never really considered jokbal before, since it’s usually too much for one person to finish, but it turned out to taste great, and it didn’t lose any flavour even after sitting for a while. Now that I know jokbal from a good place is still delicious once it’s cooled, a jokbal tour might not be a bad idea next time I get the chance.
