I’d heard a place called Ppongnamu Jokbaljaengi over in Seolleung had quite the reputation, and it turns out they have a branch near Gangnam Station too. Given the times we’re living in, I ordered delivery.

I went half-and-half with the seasoned version. The quality of the jokbal is genuinely good. No off-flavours, the medicinal-herb note isn’t too strong, and not a single cut was dry – really well balanced. You could easily call it one of the great ones. I ordered the extra-large, and it was more than enough even for four of us.

Garlic chives and radish

With jokbal this good, the sides are better kept simple. It’s been a while since I came across a jokbal place I liked this much.
