A friend of mine told me there was a rumor that Sankoen in Azabu-juban sells an expensive, delicious gyudon. And Azabu-juban is right next door to me..
the place
barley tea
cold and refreshing.
the menu
the yakiniku-don is 1,200 yen, which is on the pricey side for a beef bowl.
the full set
it comes out plain and simple.
the beef bowl
it sits somewhere between a gyudon and yakiniku, and it was seriously greasy. The taste is the richness of wagyu with sweetness piled on top. It is good, but a bit junky, I suppose. If I had eaten this in my twenties I would have been hooked. For me right now it is a little too heavy. If I ever come back, I should bring some wasabi with me.
