A classy whisky, very much the Glenlivet. I’ve been drinking whiskies like this on my own lately, and I like that the bottle doesn’t go down too fast..
Nikka Pure Malt Red
For the price it’s excellent, and while it’s good neat, it also makes a really tasty highball. A bit of a shame this one has been discontinued.
Asahi Dry Zero
Drinking alcohol when it’s hot out just makes you overheat, so having a light non-alcoholic drink in summer turned out to be a good call. It’s the No. 1 seller for a reason – it tastes pretty close to beer.
Harry Cranes Craft Highball
I picked it up because I heard it was good, and the peat really comes through. The problem, though, is that a Laphroaig highball tastes better.. I suppose being easy to carry around is the selling point.
Hitachino Highball
Hmm.. this one didn’t do much for me either..
Kokushibori Premium
It’s an aged pineapple chuhai made with rum, and it’s so good. If you don’t mind sweet drinks, I think it beats most cocktails.
Octomore
The strength was so hard to feel that it made me wonder whether this was really an Octomore. Octomore normally packs a punch, right? Not feeling the ABV means it’s smooth and tasty. As long as you’re not expecting the usual Octomore character, it’s delicious.
Big Baby Caol Ila 7 Year Old
I enjoyed it last time, and it was just as good when I opened another one. And I still have one more bottle left..
Muyeong makgeolli
I had it at a makgeolli specialist somewhere in Gangnam and it was pretty good. I should go back again sometime..
The Famous Grouse
The whisky in the Gimpo Airport lounge has switched from J&B Rare to The Famous Grouse. Well, this one’s tasty too. I half suspect most famous whiskies are good – there are just low-ABV whiskies and high-ABV ones.
