Nothing special, but I gathered them up all the same..
Oyster Jin Jjambbong
Microwaving it keeps the noodles from going soggy, which is nice. And the oyster Jin Jjambbong has such a rich broth that it works both as a hangover cure and as a drinking snack..
Chamkkae Ramyun (sesame ramyun)
I bought this one too because it can be microwaved. Ottogi is really going for it.
Toomba pasta..
The noodles aren’t really pasta, but it’s decent enough.
Lasagna
It’s a hybrid of lasagna and ramen.. not bad at all.
Microwave-cooked again
I’ve got kimchi at home anyway, so this didn’t really mean much..
Same story with this one..
If you don’t keep kimchi at home it might really matter, but for me it didn’t mean much..
Senrigan’s garlic maze-soba
Senrigan is a jiro-style shop, and this recreates the rich flavor of jiro-style ramen surprisingly well. There’s mayonnaise in it too, which adds to that junky feel.
Nurungjitang…
Less nurungji in it than I expected..
Nenemttin (Paldo’s 35th-anniversary Bibimmyeon)
It really was spicy..
Something like this is fine for a light meal too.
Similar to Neoguri?
Microwaving is at least a passable way to do it..
Happy Ramyun
It’s supposed to recreate the taste of the old-style ramyun.. and I feel like I can almost remember it. Not so much delicious as retro. As for the noodles, I think today’s noodles taste better.
Shin Ramyun Gunmyeon (Non-frying)
The ramyun itself was fine, but calling it Shin Ramyun feels like a bit of a stretch..
AFURI Yuzu Shio Ramen
It’s a top-tier cup ramen, so if you spot it on a trip to Japan, just buy it without thinking twice.
Saeutang-myeon (shrimp ramyun)..
Ottogi really is working hard..
Jikhwa Jjajang (flame-grilled jjajangmyeon)
When I recreate jjajangmyeon or jjamppong at home I used to use frozen samgyeopsal, but picking the cartilage out of it was such a pain.. Baek Jong-won has a similar recipe.. and he just breezes right past the genuinely hard step.. So now I just use pork shoulder..
