There’s a manga/drama called Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles, and it featured lots of quirky ramen shops. I’d been meaning to go to this place ever since I saw it on the show, but between closures and relocations and all sorts of other circumstances, I never managed to. Then I recently heard it had opened in Machida, an area quite a way out from central Tokyo, so I went over timed to their opening hour.
The vibe is roughly like this…
It felt like a pineapple theme park…
Pineapples…
Honestly, collecting all of this can’t have been easy. They even sell pineapple wine. I like the consistency.
Pineapple ramen + ajitama
The taste is that of a proper shio ramen, and it goes fairly well with the refreshing pineapple. If anything it was so refreshing that I felt the broth could have been a bit richer for balance. I have a feeling the shrimp shio ramen might have been the better pick.
The noodles
A flavor that suits shio ramen.
Ajitama
This one was a bit iffy: it was waaay too sweet. Dessert-level sweet…
Anyway, it wasn’t as weird a ramen as I’d expected, and it was perfectly edible. Next time I’ll probably order the shrimp shio without the ajitama, but it’s so far away that who knows when I’ll get to visit again…
The weather
Gorgeous weather. Moving on to the next destination.
