One of the members of our gourmet club was getting married, so we got together for a pre-wedding dinner in Hannam-dong.

Gwamegi (half-dried saury)

Unusually for a Japanese place, Dodo sells soju, so we happily ate everything as soju food.

Another thing Dodo has going for it is that, for a Japanese restaurant, it serves dishes that feel almost Korean.

They really know how to fry. Not many places even in Japan do it this well.

We came with people who know Dodo inside out, so we only ordered the signature dishes.

Well fed, we moved on to the groom-to-be’s place for round two.

As you’d expect from gourmet club members, the house is stocked with all kinds of booze.

Bunnahabhain 1990

This one apparently came over from London.

Bowmore 1988

1988 is already thirty years ago. The ’70s used to count as old bottles, but now it feels like the bar has crept up to the early ’90s. A day of eating and drinking far too well, all under the pretext of a wedding.
