Anagoya has moved to Yeongdong Market, and this was my first visit since the move. I asked a regular of the place and was told the 50,000-won omakase is the way to go. So I ordered it, and the lineup turned out to be excellent. There aren’t many places in Gangnam that do this much for the price.
Anagoya
Oysters on the half shell and the basic spread
Inside
Clean and spacious. Better than when they were by Boramae Park.
First things first..
I think this actually did its job.
Gimpo Yeju
Excellent stuff.
River oysters and bits and pieces..
Gooseneck barnacles, of all things. That was a surprise.
Not much to eat on them, though, despite the looks..
A grilled dish too
And a stew..
Lightly boiled squid
Mentaiko mayo
Octopus
Anago (simmered sea eel)
Shrimp and mochi tofu
The texture of the tofu was fun.
Something that tasted a lot like takowasa..
Ankimo (monkfish liver)
Turban shell
Gwamegi (half-dried saury)
The omakase really keeps on coming. And it’s still not over..
Whisky of the day
This is a whisky I picked up at Nagoya Airport and brought along. It’s a 3-year-old whisky blended with 20-year-old malt, and it’s supposed to evoke the kohigan cherry blossoms of Shinshu. It was really excellent. You could say I felt the power of Japanese whisky..
Nakji tangtangi (chopped live octopus)
Always excellent.
Deodeok root drizzled with honey
There’s even dessert.
Most people would give up at this point, but this time it was the foodie crew, so we added two servings of Jangheung samhap.
Samhap
Four servings are 120,000 won and two are 70,000 won, but such a huge pile of meat came out that I had to ask again whether this was really two servings.
Grilling..
Nicely grilled..
As samhap..
Samhap never disappoints. It’s worthy of being Anagoya’s signature dish. There was so much I wondered if we could finish it, but that worry was unfounded.
JTBC is always on here..
Very much the right call given the state of the country these days.
Then we brought out dessert too..
We ate really, really well that day. It lacks nothing as one of Gangnam’s go-to spots.
